Stephen B. Ellingson, phd
Founder and Principal
Stephen B. Ellingson, PhD, has over 30 years of diverse environmental and management system experience. He founded Vatten Associates in 2018 to streamline his expert offerings. He provides strategic executive and technical expertise with a strong value-creation focus. His career spans both private industry and state regulatory agency work, allowing him to excel at integrating equitable, cost-effective solutions for complex challenges.
He received a PhD in Water Quality, from Arizona State University. His career began at the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality before transitioning into private industry, serving in roles as: Senior Client Service Manager at TRC Environmental Corporation (2012-2018), Vice President of Environmental Compliance for Georgia Pacific's Building Products Group (2007-2012), and Compliance Directory for Environmental, Transportation and Security Compliance at Koch Mineral Services (1998-2007). He has been an active member of the Air & Waste Management Association since 1995. He currently serves as Emeritus Chair on the Board of Directors of the Georgia Chapter. Originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota, he is now based in Atlanta, Georgia.
